A properly certified ignition interlock provider also follows and continues to maintain the federal NHTSA standards in its devices. These standards outline the most current specifications for ignition interlock devices. In these standards, ignition interlock devices must be able to withstand certain environmental elements such as extreme heat.

Don't get burned by a product that isn't as good as ours

- Avoid exposing the interlock to direct sunlight for long periods of time. Instead, place your alcohol tester under your seat or somewhere in the shade when you are not driving.
- If you live in an especially dry area, you MAY be instructed to disconnect your head unit from the curly cord and take it inside with you for extra protection. ***Make sure to confirm that you can disconnect the head unit with your program oversight authority or with Smart Start of Alabama BEFORE attempting to do so since some areas do not allow you to disconnect your head unit!
