Getting behind the wheel when you're drunk is bad. But getting behind the wheel "super drunk" is... you guessed it - super bad. This is the basic concept behind super drunk laws in states such as Michigan.
Not all states call them super drunk laws like Michigan does, but they essentially set more severe penalties for people whose blood alcohol concentration measures much higher than the minimum limit set for standard DUI and DWI laws.
It may sound like a cool or interesting phrase, but the impact of driving with a high blood alcohol content can be horrible. Not everything referred to as being "super" is a hero. In this case, super simply means to an excessive degree.
When your blood alcohol content is "much more" than the legal limit, your penalties can be "much more" than standard penalties. If a first time DUI offender in Alabama has a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher, they are subject to more severe penalties.
